The project funded by the National Medicinal Plants Board, Government of India, envisages to establish herbal gardens in TERI, Supi, and Gual Pahari as regional resource centres of learning, wherein there is authentic and thorough documentation available of the natural and cultural heritage of the region relating to medicinal plants. Each herbal garden will be divided into four compartments, which include (1) conservation area; (2) plant multiplication or nursery management; (3) processing and product display zone; and (4) training, educational, and recreational area.

Myanmar is committed toenhance the social and economic lives of its rural people within the context of environmental restoration and greening on a sustainable basis. Towards this end, it is considered to set up the biomass gasifier system for supplying electricity for various applications, including pumping of water in rural areas. TERI has, in January 2004, installed a biomass gasifier at Kokke Village in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Division, Myanmar, for curing tobacco.
