The potential area identification is first and most important criterion for the success of any solar project. One of the clients is interested to put grid connected Solar PV plant (MW scale) of various capacities in different states. For this, broad solar radiation resource assessment is required to have go/no go decision. Second important thing is to analyze available center and different state level policies. In this project, potential areas (district level) were identified based on the solar radiation resource assessment in the selected states.

The objectives are to (1) pool and analyse information on materials with completed pathways for production, use, and waste management such as solvents and lubricants; (2) draw conclusions about recommended activity indicators and emission factors based on comparative analyses; (3) create an increased awareness of the need for the harmonization of definitions of non-energy use in energy balances.

This programme is one of the five courses being offered by TERI under the ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation programme) /Special Commonwealth Assistance for Africa Programme (SCAAP) of the Government of India. This course, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, will be held from 05 to 23 January 2009 for about 30 participants. The course aims to develop an understanding of existing and emerging renewable energy technologies, energy conservation and efficiency improvement techniques across various sectors.

This study seeks to throw light on the literature and stake holder perceptions on the linkage between climate change, migration and security in the Indian neighbourhood. While a lot has been written and said on the general linkage between climate change and security, and migration and security, relatively little has been written and said about the relationship between climate change induced migration and its security implications. Even less has been written and researched on this subject in the context of the Indian neighbourhood.

This study should support the overall work of UNIDO in the area of Renewable Energy with a focus on two countries of East-Africa viz. Ethiopia and Uganda. The overall objective of this study will be to contribute towards strengthening the local manufacturing sector in East-Africa to produce renewable energy technologies and/or systems. The specific objective will be to identify, map, and prioritise components and/or systems for two renewable energy technologies over the short, medium and long term that could be manufactured in Ethiopia and Uganda.

The study aims to examine electricity generating strategies in India, given the need to significantly reduce carbon intensity in response to climate change.Particular attention will be paid to non-coal based generation (such as solar, wind, geothermal and nuclear), and what is known about the technology trajectories, costs, carbon intensity, and job creation possibilities associated with each; as well as the role of the state in developing and implementing such strategies.
