The training programme aims at sensitizing participants on decentralized generation (DG) technologies and to study the extent to which DG can fill the demand-supply gap created by the limitation of grid extension. It focuses on rural electrification issues, renewable

The 4th TERI-KAS conference will seek to unravel the linkages between energy resources and India’s national security agenda and strategy. The conference will specifically focus on the security challenges posed by alternative energy sources such as nuclear energy and uranium, hydropower and renewables, but will not exclude the security concerns pertaining to fossil fuels as well. The conference will also examine how country strategies can take better cognisance of ensuring supply of critical energy resources.

This study is being undertaken jointly with Keio University to formulate an environmental I-O for India that can link with a global model. In the first phase the Indian I-O matrix was transformed into an energy I-O. This phase seeks to validate the exercise, link the numbers with TERI's MARKAL model and transform the energy matrix to an environmental matrix that can then be linked to Keio University's global I-O.

The project envisages undertaking activities pertaining to the presentation of India?s Second National Communication (SNC) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The SNC will engage for technical coordination, participation of stakeholders including the researchers, industry, NGOs and the private sector and create platforms for policy interface with the stakeholders in key climate change sectors.
