We will add 36 million electricity consumers by Dec 2018: RK Singh
Talking about global energy outlook without India & China misses out on 50% of the world's energy stock, the minister said
Shri RK Singh, Honourable Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Power; and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, delivered the presidential address at the Darbari Seth Memorial Lecture 2018 in New Delhi. He asserted that a discourse on energy outlook without India and China misses out on 50% of the latent and existing global energy stock. He also said that with the country’s focus on renewable energy generation, an upcoming energy storage policy that encourages domestic storage manufacture, and a focus on e-mobility, the demand for oil will go down in the next 10 years.
He added that India is going to add 36 million electricity consumers by December 2018, making it the largest electrification programme in the world. Further, there is also a push for electric mobility and electric cooking as cleaner forms of transportation and fuel, he added.
