DROP Integrated Watershed Development Project

This integrated watershed development project is proposed to be implemented in Joshu- Bhakru village of Semaltagad Micro-Watershed in Dehradun, Uttaranchal. The project aims to transform the target community into a model village as a replicable example of sustainable rural development. It will ensure long term availability of water resources for the rural community through interventions aimed at a catchment level rainwater harvesting and rejuvenation of traditional water harvesting systems. The specific interventions will include Health and sanitation, Energy, Forestry, Agriculture, Rainwater harvesting including rejuvenation of traditional water harvesting systems, and Enterprise development. The project will strengthen local institutions including the important institute of Panchayats and build local capacity within the community to enable them to undertake innovative approaches to community development.
