The second day of the 8th GRIHA Summit in the capital set the tone for the need for sustainability going hand in hand with ample financing for all the ideas and implementation for creating an ecosystem for sustainable habitat. With the recent predication of the meteorological department that due to the impact of increase in greenhouse gases the upcoming summer will be one degree higher than normal average, and to add to this the unprecedented urbanization India is witnessing at present, the construction sector has a significant impact on climate change.
In an endeavour towards development of sustainable buildings in Gurugram, GRIHA Council organized the GRIHA-NASA Trophy at the 8th GRIHA Summit today. Singhad College of Architecture won the Trophy at the 59th Annual NASA Convention 2016-17, organised with the support of Experion Developers, Gurugram.
The GRIHA Council, in conjunction with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, inaugurated the 8th GRIHA Summit with 'Transforming Habitats' as the theme today.
TERI in collaboration with Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) brought together multiple stakeholder groups to deliberate on the need to adopt efficient and transformative approaches for sustainable development of urban centres on varied aspects. The Dialogue was attended by senior representatives from government organizations, think tanks and top Indian conglomerates, and saw deliberations that focused on the theme of sustainable waste and water management and transforming habitats.
Through Sparsh, GRIHA intends to build awareness and increase outreach and acceptability of green building concept among the masses.
One of the leading developers in the National Capital Region (NCR, India) Vatika Group announced its collaboration with the GRIHA Council for implementation of the Green Building concepts and the GRIHA Rating variants for VATIKA projects. Vatika Group is committing to register more than 5 million sq.ft building footprint for GRIHA Rating.
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) today unveiled the findings of its study report "Transitions in the Indian Energy Sector - Macro Level Analysis of Demand and Supply Side Options". This report was released alongside two others - one by the Electricity Transitions Commission (ETC), and the other by the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).
India's first and largest real estate private equity firm, IREO, today announced its collaboration with the GRIHA Council for implementation of the Green Building concepts and the GRIHA Rating variants for IREO projects. IREO has already registered about 8 million square feet building footprint with GRIHA Council and is in process of registering an additional footprint of 2 million square feet.
