Emissions and Consumption: An Approach to Climate Justice
The paper explores the relationship between CO2 emissions and consumption and argues that high and unsustainable level of per capita consumption is the primary driver of climate change. High level of consumption in developed countries affects the right of every individual across the globe to have equal access to atmospheric resources and results in climate injustice. In the interest of early stabilization of climate change, effective international climate actions must aim at reducing unsustainable levels of consumption of energy and emissions in developed countries and providing equitable access to energy and resources in developing countries. Sustainable consumption and equitable energy access are keys to ensuring climate justice and early climate stabilization.
