The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is implementing a project titled 'Overseas Module on Forestry Practices Training for Indian Forest Service Probationers'. The deliverable of this assignment is to organise a module for special exposure to overseas forestry practices training for IFS probationers. The overall objective is to help the participants learn new forestry, protected area management and technological practices adopted in Australia and Laos and consolidate their learning in the light of changing forestry paradigms.

Assessment of RFCTLARR 2013 - Odisha, Jharkhand and Assam

The main objectives are to: (1) Ascertain the extent of adherence, by land-acquiring bodies, to the procedural and substantive provision of the RFCTLARR Act, 2013 for land acquisition in tribal areas. (2) Gain knowledge of the experience of project-affected-Scheduled Tribes families regarding the implementation of the provisions of Chapter V of the RFCTLARR Act, 2013. (3) Examine the ground reality regarding the seeking of consent of Gram Sabha or Panchayat or the autonomous District Council, as the case may be, for land acquisition in the Fifth Schedule Area.

Development of technologies for measuring and maintaining ecosystem services from forests

The project is aimed at development of technologies for measuring and maintaining ecosystem services from forests. In view of paucity of such studies, economic valuation of forest ecosystem services will be useful. The main objectives of the study are to: (i) estimate the use and non-use values of ecosystem services provided by the wildlife sanctuary; and (ii) identify the measures for maintaining and enhancing the ecosystem services.
