India to have 350 million children by 2050, faces urgent challenges to secure their future: UNICEF report

UNICEF's flagship State of the World's Children 2024 report, The Future of Children in a Changing World, was launched in New Delhi on Wednesday, spotlighting three global megatrends, demographic shifts, climate crises, and frontier technologies that are set to reshape the lives of children by 2050. The report was unveiled by Ms Cynthia McCaffrey, UNICEF India Representative, alongside Ms Suruchi Bhadwal of The Energy Research Institute (TERI), UNICEF Youth Advocate Mr Kartik Verma.

With climate change, there will be a greater number of extremes and higher precipitation in terms of rainfall, and this will certainly result in an increase in risk aspects of dams in many parts of the country, says Ms Suruchi Bhadwal, Director, Earth Science and Climate Change, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
