Workshop on "SCP Framework for Affordable & Climate Resilient Building Construction & Materials"
TERI, Bangalore and TERI University are organizing a workshop to disseminate the outcomes of a Start-up Research Project "SCP (Sustainable Consumption and Production) Framework Proposed for Affordable & Climate Resilient Building Construction and Materials ", supported by UNEP (United Nations Environment Program).
The workshop is scheduled to be held on November 30, 2016 at TERI Auditorium, TERI- South Regional Centre, Domlur, Bangalore.
The workshop will showcase various challenges in construction sector and the SCP framework proposed, based upon the concept of Sustainable Consumption and Production to promote Low Cost, Sustainable and Climate Resilient Construction. The current start-up research project, focuses on stakeholders interactions in the Himalayan regions of India & Bhutan, proposed SCP framework along with various attributes under Environment friendliness, affordability, climate resilience and social acceptance of building materials in the fragile environment of Himalayas. Sustainability Index of a few sample building materials has been calculated as part of the project, using the SCP framework, this will also be shared during the technical sessions. The panel discussions are planned to brainstorm on replication and adoption of the proposed SCP framework in different parts of India and Asia.
