Water-Energy Nexus: Connecting the dots
TERI as part of the research programme funded by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on climate change and water energy nexus, organized two- day conference on the theme, 'Water-Energy Nexus: Connecting the dots' from 2-3 September 2014, at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Mr Arild Osknevad, Counsellor and head of Cooperation, Royal Norwegian Embassy. During the occasion, TERI released a set of resource material on the water-energy nexus, including a synthesis report of the project.
First day of the event had two technical sessions, where national and international experts made presentation on various issues related to the theme of water-energy nexus. Second day two panel discussions were held. The first discussion oriented around policy and governance framework for harmonizing water-energy nexus. The eminent panelists discussed the issue with reference to project recommendations for the four states- Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, studied for vulnerability related to Climate Change-water-energy nexus. The second panel discussion focused on the issue of water energy nexus in the context of regional energy security.
