Training Programme on Solar PV Systems for Indian Railways
TERI organized training programmes on the theme of 'Solar PV systems' for participants from the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, at the TERI University campus from 12-21 November, 2013. The participants in the event included officers and supervisors from different zones of the Indian Railways. The training included a two-day programme for the officers, and a four-day programme for the supervisors.
The training programmes were designed to give the participants a better understanding of designing, sizing, installation, and commissioning of solar PV systems. The course also included the smart monitoring technologies, economic aspects of solar PV systems, and an overview of renewable energy technologies. To make the participants understand better, various case studies were also shared during the workshop.
Hands-on sessions were also provided to help the participants understand the frequently faced issues on the field. This also included repair and maintenance sessions on solar lighting systems and solar PV power plants for the supervisors. The participants were also given a tour of the solar lighting laboratory at TERI University, and smart mini-grid and smart controller laboratory at the TERI Retreat in Gual Pahari.
