Training cum Awareness Workshop on 'Energy Efficient Homes'
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is organized the seventh Training cum Awareness Workshop on 'Energy Efficient Homes', on November 27, 2014 at TERI, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
Lack of capacity and adequate understanding of energy efficiency issues is considered a key deterrent in implementing energy efficiency in buildings in India. The Promotional Programme on Energy Efficient Homes by the National Housing Bank (NHB), therefore, also aims at establishing the local capacity that is seen as crucial to ensure sustainable project outcomes. Under the program several training programs have been conducted across the country to enhance the capacities of stakeholders. Eight such workshops have been conducted so far. This eighth workshop was held by TERI to generate awareness on the ongoing promotional programme on Energy Efficient Homes, programme elements, process, benefits to various stakeholders and train participants on the use of simple-to-use design cum assessment tool, IT toolkit:ResBuild India- a key feature of the programme.
About the tool:
IT Toolkit:ResBuild India is an easy-to-use assessment tool to predict the energy performance of upcoming residential building projects in the country, without going into the complexities of detailed energy simulations. It is based on international standards ISO 13790 and is validated for different climate zones of India. The tool can be used by most of the building professionals to take decisions, before the construction begins, for the most effective energy conservation measures, within a given budget.
The workshop was attended by representatives/consultants from Developers, Architects, Engineers, Consultants and teaching faculties from numerous academic institutes. The program was well received by the participants and many requests for having more such workshops in various educational institutes came up.
