Advanced Course on Sustainable Lighting Practices (organised by TERI and Philips Lighting University)
The three-day training programme 'Advanced Course on Sustainable Lighting Practices' was jointly organized by the Centre for Research and Sustainable Building Science (CRSBS), TERI and the Philips Lighting University from February 18 to 20, 2013 at the Seminar Hall, TERI, India Habitat Centre. The program was organized for professionals from various fields (architects, engineers, consultants) who provide sustainable lighting solutions. This three-day workshop was developed and conducted on indoor lighting applications with Dialux software tool practice on the last day.
Ms Mili Majumdar, Director, Sustainable Habitat, and Ms Sudeshna Mukhopadyay, Director, Philips Lighting University, welcomed all the participants and professionals from TERI and Philips. Mr Pradeep Kumar, Associate Director, CRSBS enlightened all the participants on GRIHA, LEED, and ECBC requirements for artificial lighting design and the controls required to integrate it with day lighting.
TERI professionals and Philips Lighting University faculty delivered lectures on the following topics:
- Energy audit of existing lighting systems
- Green products with LED Performance: Myths and facts
- Light, Perception and Health
- Optimized lighting design as per the rating systems (GRIHA and LEED)
- Lighting control integration as per Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC 2007)
- Designing an efficient and optimized lighting system for a room using Dialux software
- Lighting retrofits and sustainable renewable lighting
