3-Day Building Programme Simulation Workshop
Sustainable Buildings-SRC organized a 3-Day Building Programme Simulation Workshop at SJB School of Architecture and Planning in, Kengeri, Bengaluru from 13th to 15th November 2018. The intent of the programme was to meet the shortage of trained manpower to undertake sustainable development and green building practices in India. Hence, SJB SAP intended to train its students for the performance simulation of green building design.
The 3-Day programme comprised of sessions on Concepts of Sunpath and Principles of Optimizing Building Geometry for Sun Control, Using Solar Tool for Designing Shading Devices, Fundamentals of Light and Visual Comfort, Using Ecotect and Radiance Tools to Predict Daylight Distribution in Interiors, Concepts of Airflow and Natural Ventilation and Using IES Tool to Design Naturally Ventilated Spaces to Maximize Thermal Comfort. There were hand-holding sessions in which the participants were trained to use various software and calculation tools for building optimization. The workshop culminated with a design competition where students applied the knowledge of Ecotect and IES tool to evaluate their respective designs. The day ended with design jury by TERI team and winners were awarded certificates. All participants were awarded with participation certificates and the Dean of the School expressed their satisfaction with the outcome of the workshop and assured to make it an annual event.
