The year 2024 is a crucial moment for paving the future of climate actions. COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan will convene to complete the enhanced transparency framework, and set goal for enhanced climate financing in the form of 'New Collective Quantified Goal'.
With the UN member states re-affirming their commitment and resolve to "resolve to set ourselves on that path, striving for a world that is safe, peaceful, just, equal, inclusive, sustainable and prosperous, a world in which well-being, security and dignity and a healthy planet are assured for all" via the 'Pact for the Future' agreed upon during the Summit of the Future in New York, all eyes are now on how the states, private sector and the civil society collaborate and cooperate to act on climate change.
This year so far has seen some defining moments for TERI. We are proud to have celebrated our golden jubilee in June 2024, where leaders gathered to commend the 50-year journey of TERI's solutions for sustainable development.
Throughout the first-half of the FY 2024-25, TERI Council for Business Sustainability has strived to ensure that pressing concerns relating to energy transition, sustainable agriculture practices, water-use efficiency and more are embedded in our engagements with the corporate world, and with our partners. During this time, TERI Council for Business Sustainability (CBS) witnessed enthused participation of national and global partners along with government stakeholders at the subnational, national and regional levels. Through the first half of FY 2024-25, the network of TERI CBS helped build a system that provides policymakers with reliable, relevant and real-world evidence from businesses to support the translation of NDCs and sustainability goals into effective policies and regulations, and the Council aims to keep strengthening this system in years ahead.
At an aggregate level, the Council convened 30 convenings, while reaching out to over 120 + companies in the CBS Network. Glimpses of the key moments and outcomes of TERI CBS engagements in the first half of 2024-25 is available here.
