Promoting Renewable Energy for Industrial Applications in India

The project is a collaborative study by TERI and UNIDO. The objective of the project is to study SME sector in India and identify the potential renewable energy technologies for industrial applications with reference to the SME sector in India and organize an Expert Group Meeting (a two day event to be held in Delhi during 18-19th December 2007) to discuss the main issues and findings. The proposed solar PV based hybrid charging station for e-bikes would consist of installed solar PV array in conjunction with grid and necessary charge controllers for charging the e-bikes. In addition the hybrid system would also have the option to charge buffer batteries for other applications.The objectives of the project are
(a) Design and development of solar PV based hybrid charging station for e-bikes,
(b) Field testing and customization of the charging station,
(c) Finding roadmap for commercialization of such activity.

This study aims to prepare feasibility reports for setting up of decentralised solar PV power plants (having capacity of around 20 kWp) to provide electricity supply to the industrial growth centres in four locations (Ganta, Bo, Kpandebu and the Rubber Science Technology Institute at Harper.
