Completed Projects
Impact of Climate Change on Diarrhoeal Diseases in India: Phase I Study
August 1, 2007 to
February 23, 2008
The study involves both quantitative and qualitative approaches. In the quantitative analysis, a time-series ecological study would be done with the pilot study sites serving as the unit of population. Regression analysis would be utilized for the years 1955-2005 to identify probable trends specific to the region."Financing Oil and Gas Sector"
December 3, 2007 to
February 23, 2008
Under this project TERI is organizing a five days training programs for ONGC titled "Financing Oil and Gas Sector". The training programme is organized for middle and senior level ONGC executives. The objective of this programme is to impart training to theses executives on various financial aspects related to oil and gas sector covering the areas such as financial aspects of crude oil and natural gas markets, oil& gas value chain, portfolio management, risk analysis, pricing issues and regulatory issues.World Wetlands Day - 2 February 2008

Climate Resilient Development and Adaptation: India
May 21, 2007 to
January 31, 2008
This project includes development of a GEF/ UNDP FSP project fostering launch of an integrated program of pilot implementation, documentation, and capacity activities designed to support adaptation to climate change. The approach will develop strategies for responding to a combination of gradual change and the extreme climatic events anticipated as a result of climate change.Development and testing of low cost membrane filters from biomass ash for clean up of producer gas for gasifier-based power plants
March 31, 2003 to
January 31, 2008
The project proposes to develop membrane filters using biomass fly ash as the starting material for high temperatures particulate removal from producer gas for power-generation application. Biomass ash from gasification of rice husk, bagasse, and other available biomass sources will be characterized and selected for membrane filter preparation. Membrane filters will be made using the technique of tape casting and sintering. Their particulate removal characteristics will be evaluated.Third Party Water Assessment
September 18, 2006 to
January 23, 2008
The scope of work is to undertake an independent assessment of Coca Cola (India)''s current water resources management practices. While doing so, the evaluation will also seek to ascertain the impact of pesticides on the quality of the intake water, if any, as well as the processes followed in ensuring quality by treating intake water during production of finished product.Development of an integrated and environmental-friendly saccharification process for enhanced ethanol yield from lignocellulose
November 1, 2005 to
December 31, 2007
The objective is to develop an integrated and environment-friendly process to enhance ethanol yield from lignocellulose. In order to hydrolyse the cellulosic portion of the substrate, two issues need to be mainly addressed. One, lignin dissolution with cleavage of ether linkage between lignin and cellulose molecule so as to produce a cellulose-rich residue. Second, hydrolysis of crystalline cellulose by means of effective cellulase enzyme system. Through this process, it has been envisaged that ethanol production would be enhanced from 25% to more than 80% conversion efficiency.Development of environmental standards, stack height regulations, and good practices for producer gas plants and biomass gasifiers
November 15, 2002 to
December 31, 2007
The objectives are (1) to study emissions and effluents from producer gas plants and biomass gasifiers; (2) to recommend suitable environmental norms for stack emissions, effluents, (3) to recommend good practices for overall improvement of plant performance and reduction in fugitive emission, and suitable cost effective modifications for better performance.Development of Information Education & Communication strategy for Karnataka under the NRDWS & SP project
April 1, 2007 to
December 31, 2007
The objective of this Project is to develop an integrated communication strategy with the UNICEF and the Government of Karnataka for the generation of awareness among the rural masses about water quality issues, hygiene practices, habits for improved handling of water and the problems related to water borne diseases etc and suggest appropriate tools/channels for dissemination of these IEC developed. The project will lead to development of IEC materials mainly posters, charts, wallpaintings, manuals to be used by grassroot functionaries, a film on water quality issues and radio spots.Development of non-edible bio-oil based lamps / lanterns for house lighting in rural areas
January 20, 2006 to
December 31, 2007
TERI has under taken this project with the following objective of :1. Performance study of using bio-oil in pure and different blend with kerosene in the lamps/lanterns
2. Modification of the existing lamps /lanterns to suits the use of bio-oil pure or blend
The scope of work includes measuring lumens, specific fuel consumption and emissions.
