To partner with Delhi Government for designing and implementing energy efficiency programs in Delhi. The overall aim is to highlight the importance of demand side management and energy conservation by demonstrating huge energy saving potential in Delhi. This will also help in minimizing the peak load problems that Delhi faces. The program cuts across various section and shall also be accompanied by intensive awareness campaign to educate consumer about benefits of such measures.

b) Subregional datasets on economic, social and environment including air, water, land, biodiversity and waste in database format which will be integrated into regional GEO Data Portal

The report “Sustainable Development pathways for South Asia” would focus on the environmental pressures associated with four issues, important for the sustainability of development efforts in the region: food security, water security, energy security and sustainable urbanisation. Attaining food security, water security and energy security involves processes that draw heavily on the natural resource base. Also, the consumption of food, water and energy changes the environmental resources base and exercises pressure on it through the generation of wastes and emissions.

During the first phase of the project, TERI has conducted the research at Gwal pahari. In the second phase, TERI has implemnted the results of the first phase in 1 ha area at INDAL, Belgaum, Karnataka on experimental basis.

In any oil industry, during drilling operations huge quantities of oil contaminated drill cuttings and synthetic oil based mud (SOBM) are generated as waste. These waste contain several toxic, mutagenic and carcinogenic hydrocarbon constituents which contribute to severe environmental pollution. Bioremediation of oily waste is a proven and environmentally friendly cost effective oil contamination treatment approach. The treated waste can be reused as fill/road base making material.
