The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan or IEEJ and TERI have entered into an agreement to cooperate on the energy efficiency improvements in India by undertaking joint research projects. Some of the areas identified under the study include the industry sector and the thermal power plants. The activities would include analysing challenges facing India and Japan in the energy sector, undertaking measures to address the energy challenges, sharing experiences, and identifying areas of future cooperation.Designing energy efficiency programs for Delhi

To partner with Delhi Government for designing and implementing energy efficiency programs in Delhi. The overall aim is to highlight the importance of demand side management and energy conservation by demonstrating huge energy saving potential in Delhi. This will also help in minimizing the peak load problems that Delhi faces. The project aims at providing:a) Subregional inputs to GEO 4 Report: which includes review on State and Trends of Environment (1987-2007) on air, land, water , biodiversity for each South Asia sub-regional country (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka)
b) Subregional datasets on economic, social and environment including air, water, land, biodiversity and waste in database format which will be integrated into regional GEO Data Portal
