Under this project, TERI would collaborate with HPCL for carrying out a feasibility study for Jatropha based biodiesel production in the states of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The study would take into account, the policy environment in terms of not only the policy initiatives of the GoI, but also the policy initiatives adopted by the respective state govts. It would also evaluate different plantation models that could be developed for biodiesel production: 1. Private Farmers Land 2. Community land 3. TERI carried out a pilot study with CEIL to determine the feasibility of bioremediation of drill cutting and was able to bring down the hydrocarbon level below the permissible limits.
