Support to Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Distribution Company Limited (MPMKDCL) in implementing rooftop solar power plants

The MP government has desired the MPMKDCL to support the installation of 10 MW additional rooftop solar plants in the state. Following a MPMKDCL request, the MNRE has sanctioned 10 MW capacity to MPMKDCL and desired the German Development Cooperation to extend its support.

Feasibility report and DPR for installation of roof top grid connected power

Under the project, 44 buildings of GHMC was surveyed for feasibility for developing rooftop solar PV projects. The buildings are distributed across Hyderabad in five zones which are North Zone 7 buildings; East Zone 16 buildings; West Zone  4 buildings; South Zone  9 buildings; Central Zone  8 buildings.

Increasing rail share in freight transport in India

Indian Railways was once the largest freight transport carrier in the country, but its share in freight mobility has been rapidly reducing – a decline from 39% in 2002-03 to 27% in 2014-15. Road-based freight transport, which is more energy and emission-intensive, has grown at the expense of the Indian Railways.

Workshop on "Effective and efficient realization of the extensive bioenergy resources of India"

The workshop was organized to stress the importance of bioenergy and biofuels from biomass, to streamline bioenergy options from various feedstocks and to facilitate effective and sustainable utilization of bioresources for energy. A study is also planned to be conducted after the workshop whereby the discussions from the workshop would be used as pointers for investigation.

Source Apportionment of PM2.5 & PM10 of Delhi NCR for Identification of Major Sources

This study carried out source apportionment of PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations in Delhi-National capital region (NCR) using two modelling-based approaches. The first approach relied upon monitoring and chemical characterization of PM2.5 and PM10 samples. The chemically speciated samples along with source profiles were fed into the receptor model to derive source contributions.

Modern energy access for basic lighting and cooking needs is fundamental to human development. In India there is a large gap between demand and supply of appropriate energy services. More than 40% of India’s rural households and more than 5% urban households do not have electricity and are primarily dependent on kerosene or wick lamps to meet basic lighting needs.
