TERI has established a Solar Lighting Laboratory (SLL), one of the foremost laboratories in India, complying with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards for the testing of solar lighting systems (SLS). The laboratory - supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) - is the first laboratory in Asia to get the recognition under the Lighting Global Programme of IFC.

India is leveraging all opportunities to meet its Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In this quest, the government is implementing the Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) Scheme in the country. The Scheme targeted the lighting load across the country and facilitated the replacement of the traditional incandescent bulbs (ICL) with the modern energy efficient LED bulbs. It has emerged as the world’s largest zero-subsidy based LED bulbs initiative.
High Pressure Cogeneration Technology for Sugar Sector in Pakistan

Photobioreactor Design and Harvest Technology for Algal Biofuels

An algal photobioreactor design, based on sunlight distribution, is being developed for 2-4 times improvement in areal productivity after initial tests. Harvesting microalgae has been a decisive barrier in the algal biofuel field. A process based on specific harvest features of algae and an in-situ collection mechanism in the growth system itself is being developed.
