Igniting young minds: Climate EduXchange Phase II
May 15, 2010 to
May 10, 2011
The overall objective of the current project will be to build on the existing project ¿ Climate EduXchange Phase I by further focusing on enhancing key climate change issues amongst students and teachers of all disciplines, reinforcing and promote their engagement on these issues with each other through the website that has been created ¿ www.climateeduxchange.org . This will be achieved through intensive use of the computer, the internet, and the project website. - Teacher training and capacity building has become essential as they play the role of catalyst in the teaching learning process.AREVA joins TERI to Bring Light to Villages in Maharashtra
November 3, 2010 to
May 10, 2011
With the overall objective of addressing issues related to energy and climate change, the partnership aims at making energy available to local populations while preserving the natural resources. The project targets to bring light to five villages in Maharashtra, using solar technology through TERI's Lighting a Billion Lives'a campaign. The project will establish solar charging stations in five villages in Maharashtra with 50 solar lanterns each.Facilitation of Resettlement and Rehabilitation of project affected families of Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project, Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh
June 28, 2008 to
May 9, 2011
TERI is facilitating Reliance Power (Sasan Power Limited) in designing and implementing a wholistic rehabilitation package for project affected families who are displaced as a result of the establishment of an Ultra Megawatt Power Plant in Sasan, MP. The rehabilitation plan addresses local subsistence concerns while developing a long term strategy to develop social and income security.Indian Renewable Energy Market Report
February 28, 2011 to
May 9, 2011
TERI is carrying out a comprehensive study of the Indian renewable energy market in two major technologies, viz. solar PV and onshore wind energy. The study will focus on 4 specific states of India that have the potential to develop into major renewable energy development hubs for clean energy investors. This study has been commissioned by Clean Energy Partners (BNP Paribas).Training Program on Air Quality Modeling
July 15, 2010 to
May 4, 2011
TERI is organizing a training program to bridge the gap and build the capacity of SPCBs, PCCs, etc in the field of air quality modeling. The program will build the concepts of air quality modeling, demonstrate the use of air quality models and provide ready to use course material on the subject.Development of Pilot Scale Pyrolysis Test Unit for Production of Liquid Bio-fuels and Value Added By-products from Biodiesel Plant Wastes
January 1, 2008 to
April 27, 2011
Under this project a Pyrolysis Test Unit(100kg/dayPTU) is developed. a patent has been filed on the design and operation of the Pyrolysis based Bioreactor. This Pilot Reactor is developed for production of liquid biofuel, a renewable substitute to fuel oil from selected biomass through pyrolysis route. The toxic oil seed wastes (e.g. oil seed cakes and shells) from bio-diesel plants like, Jatropha and Pongamia have been evaluated as potential source of Bio oil and high value Char.
Development of Tailor made Green Packaging Plastic - thermal, mechanical and biodegradation studies
August 1, 2007 to
April 14, 2011
In this study, synthetic plastics-bioplastics blends would be prepared. A suitable compatibilizer would be synthesized so as to improve the dispersion of the filler in the matrix phase. Starch and chitosan based polymers with nanoclay reinforcements will be attempted. The mechanical, thermal and morphological studies will be carried out as per the ASTM standards.

Development of bio-oil-based cooking stoves
January 21, 2006 to
April 8, 2011
TERI has under taken this project with the following objective of : 1. Performance study of using bio-oil in pure and different blend in the existing stoves 2. Modification of the existing stoves to suits the use of bio-oil or blend with kerosene. The scope of work involed identifying power output, specific fuel consumption, preliminary emission measurements. The target group is rural community and devices considered are for rural kitchen. It is estimated that nearly 2930 million litres ofkreosene is being used as cooking fuel.Rural Household Air Pollutants: Strategies and Programmes
April 27, 2009 to
April 6, 2011
Biomass accounts for more than 80% of domestic cooking in India. The combustion of biomass fuels produces a large number of air pollutants including nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), Sulphur dioxide (SO2), respirable particulate, formaldehyde and benzene. This project will assess knowledge, attitude and practices related to cooking fuel, Monitor levels of air pollutants in the cooking area, and
assess the feasibility of possible interventions for the community in Ballabgarh.
