Training Workshop on Advances in Biotechnology

The aim of this training course is to provide the participants with training in theoretical concepts and experimental protocols in the area of Biotechnology. This training course will also provide an overview of the application of tissue culture in the field of forestry, horticulture, floriculture and medicinal & aromatic plants. Traditional non-controversial biotechnologies, including application of biofertilizers and biopesticides for increasing crop productivity, will be discussed in detail including identifying gap areas for their mass commercialization. Scientists will also be given exposure on technologies such as nano-biotechnology, transgenic technology and molecular markers, adaptation, potential risks and benefits, etc. so that knowledge based conclusions can be drawn.

This training course would provide useful information to the participants, in promoting the utilization of this technology in their respective institutes/organizations through technology acceptance by large number of farmers for increasing land productivity in a sustainable way.
