Testing of different species of bamboo for estimating total tar and particulate matter in raw gas under controlled parameters in gasification unit

22 Jan 2010 15 Nov 2011
The objective of the project is to test the different varieties of bamboo in order to study the various chemical properties and its feasibility / suitability for the process of gasification.

The details of the work carried out are presented in the following sections.
-Part A consists of the results of proximate and ultimate analysis of different species of the bamboo among varies available special.

1. Bambusa Balcooa

2. Bambusa Bambos

3. Bambusa Nutans

4. Bambusa Tulda

5. Dendrocalamus Giganteus

6. Dendrocalamus Strictus

7. Melocanna Bambusoides

-Part B consists of fuel preparation for gasification.
-Part C consists of the details testing of the different species (as per the availability) of the bamboo in the downdraft gasification unit rated 15-20 kg/hr. Gasifier will be TERI's design and the entire hardware cost will be supported by TERI.

It is proposed that TERI will test the total tar and particulate matter in the raw gas coming out of the gasifier based on the testing protocol which is developed by TERI and primarily based on the recommendations of European commission.
