01 Oct 2012 30 Jun 2013

The purposes of this research are firstly to clarify an overall impact of rural electrification with renewable energies on local economies such as on employment, income, newly-developed industries, living standards, and poverty reduction, and secondly to identify significant impacts among them.

To clarify an overall impact of rural electrification with renewable energies on local economies and to identify significant impacts among them it is proposed to conduct a case study of selected rural areas and villages. Three different types of rural areas and villages will be selected: i.e (1) with an access to electrification through grid; (2) with self-reliance in electricity using solar energy; and (3) with self-reliance in electricity using biomass energy. The research wil be conducted through literature review, data collection, and data analysis.
