Experts discuss how to fast track sustainable energy solutions in Madhya Pradesh

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held a 'Consultative Workshop on Fast Tracking Sustainable Energy Solutions for Human Development' and two Round-table conferences on 'Sustainable Solutions for Rural Development in Madhya Pradesh' and 'Energy-efficient Biomass Cooking Technology in Madhya Pradesh' in the city today.
TERI and UTC set up Center of Excellence for Energy Efficient Buildings in India

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) today launched the Center of Excellence for Energy Efficient Buildings in India. The Center has been establishled at a time when the Government of India has introduced the Smart City Programme to address the challenge of rapid urbanization and the efficient use of energy resources.

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) today organized a Regional Dialogue titled, 'Sustainable Urban Transport and Solid Waste Management in Mumbai'. The Dialogue was organized in the run up to TERI's annual flagship event, the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS), which will be held in New Delhi from February 5 to 7, 2015. A series of Regional Dialogues were organized in the run-up to the Summit, which come in the wake of the new Government's two major announcements -- 100 Smart Cities for India and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The Research Council of Norway has launched a new research project ‘CLIMATRANS – Coping with Climate: Assessing Transport Sector Strategies for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation for Indian Cities' that will be implemented during the next three years. The project will assess climate change impacts in urban areas in India and aims to develop mitigation and adaptation strategies for the transport sector. Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru have been selected as case cities for further research.
India GHG Program: WRI, TERI and CII are managing 10% of the country’s industrial emissions

Key Indian companies have started tracking and managing their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under a voluntary programme facilitated by the World Resources Institute (WRI), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). With the Aditya Birla Group of Companies coming on board most recently, the programme, known as the India GHG Program, is estimated to be tracking and managing about 268 MT of carbon emissions, i.e., well over 10 per cent of the entire country’s industrial emissions.

Festival to promote waste management and recycling celebrated in city

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) along with Tetra Pak today organized the TRASH Festival 2014 at the Vivek High School, which generated awareness on waste management and recycling. TRASH (Thinking, Reflecting and Acting for a Sustainable Habitat) was a one-day unique festival, which celebrated "all things positive in our lives" including positive thoughts, green actions, sustainable practices, people, values, dreams and traditions.
New report reveals air pollution could rise drastically; outlines roadmap to devise models to curb emissions

A new report by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) says that if current trends of vehicle population, fuel and emission standards persist, PM 2.5 emissions will increase by a factor of three, and those of NOx will increase by a factor of five. The transport sector contributes about 15 to 50 per cent of PM 2.5 emissions in cities, and is a dominant contributor to NOx emissions, says the report.
