KAPSARC-TERI sign MoU to work on Research Programs
Baku, November 16, 2024: King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research programs involving areas such as energy and transport modelling for regions and countries, urban transitions and renewable energy.
TERI and KAPSARC will focus on research programs involving areas such as energy and transport modelling for regions and countries, urban transitions and renewable energy
In the initial stage, the two organizations will focus on future energy demand from the transportation sector across different modes, understanding clean energy policies and the implications for the transportation sector, including road, railways and maritime sectors.
On the occasion, Dr Axel Pierru, Vice President of Knowledge and Analysis at KAPSARC, said “This collaboration between KAPSARC and TERI represents an important step in advancing common research on sustainable energy transitions while leveraging regional perspectives. Together, we can develop data-driven solutions to support policymakers and industry leaders in navigating the complexities of the energy transition.”
Mr Sanjay Seth, Senior Director, Sustainable Infrastructure Programme, TERI, added, “In the current scenario, there is a lot of potential in the transport modelling, particularly in the relatively unexplored maritime and road transport sectors. The collaboration will enable joint knowledge creation and estimation methodologies to arrive at robust projections for the decision-makers, both in the policy and industry fields, to take decisions. TERI is enthused with the prospective engagement with the research team at KAPSARC.”
The MoU, which was signed on the sidelines of COP29 at Baku, Azerbaijan, aims to promote and achieve higher degree of collaboration in the data and modelling work between the two organizations.
