28 Mar 2025 28 Mar 2025

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in collaboration with the Ozone Cell, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), is organising exclusive webinar titled “Advancing Sustainable Cooling and Strengthening Certification Practices in India’s Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) Sector: Key Insights from Recent Research and Analysis”.

Background

Sustainable cooling is essential for addressing climate change, reducing energy consumption, and ensuring environmental protection. As India moves towards sustainable development, transitioning to energy-efficient and environmentally friendly refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) technologies is imperative. Equally crucial is the role of trained and certified RAC technicians in ensuring the adoption of best practices and minimizing environmental impacts.

In this context, TERI, in collaboration with the Ozone Cell, MoEF&CC, is organizing an exclusive webinar to present key insights from recent research and analysis focused on sustainable RAC procurement and technician certification. This initiative aligns with India’s commitments under the Montreal Protocol and its national sustainability goals.

Objectives

The webinar aims to share key findings from two critical studies conducted with the Ozone Cell, MoEF&CC. It will discuss actionable recommendations to integrate sustainable RAC technologies and certified technicians into procurement frameworks. Additionally, it seeks to promote stakeholder engagement in advancing sustainable cooling solutions in India.

Key Insights from Research and Analysis

The webinar will showcase insights from two significant studies. The first study, the Guidebook for Procurement of Sustainable RAC Equipment, provides a comprehensive reference for procuring sustainable RAC equipment in residential and commercial segments. It emphasizes selecting environmentally friendly refrigerants and identifying the most suitable equipment based on application and usage.

The second study, Public Procurement and Certification of RAC Technicians, examines the integration of certified and trained RAC service technicians into public procurement systems. It highlights the benefits of engaging certified technicians and offers key policy recommendations to strengthen certification practices.

Why Attend?

Participants will gain expert insights on sustainable cooling technologies and the importance of hiring trained and certified technicians. The webinar will provide a deeper understanding of the environmental benefits of adopting sustainable RAC technologies. It will also explore actionable steps to align India’s cooling sector with the objectives of the Montreal Protocol and contribute to sustainability goals.

Target Audience

This webinar is designed for policymakers and government representatives, industry stakeholders in the RAC sector, procurement professionals, certification and training institutions, sustainability experts and researchers, as well as civil society organizations and environmental advocates.

Participation and Registration

The webinar is open to all stakeholders committed to advancing sustainable cooling practices in India. Upon successful registration, participants will receive the meeting link to join the session.
