The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in association with Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, Government of Odisha conducted a training program on ‘Building Urban Climate Change Resilience in India' on April 20-22, 2015 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
This program was supported by the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) under their CAPaBLE Program. The training was targeted towards bridging the science-policy divide by sensitizing the city and state level decision-makers about the application of climate change science into urban development planning and decision making.
This three day training program was attended by the elected representatives and the municipal officials from the municipalities and municipal corporation in the State of Odisha. The inaugural session had the opening address delivered by the Additional Commissioner of Gopabandhu Academy, Mr. Arunanchal Dash and the inaugural address by the Honourable Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. The training program sensitized the elected representatives and the municipal officials on the issues and impacts related to climate change and the importance of adaptation interventions for the urban areas. Further the program also had local resource persons sensitizing the participants in the regional language on the scenario of climate resilience of urban services and disaster management in the regional context. The participants were awarded with a certificate upon completion of the program.
