The Livelihoods and Landscapes Strategy (LLS) is a global programme of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) being implemented in 31 landscapes in 23 countries. The aim of LLS is to catalyse the sustainable use and conservation of forest biodiversity and ecosystem services for the benefit of the rural poor.

In situ bioremediation of sludge pits at OIL Duliajan

Oil India Ltd, Duliajan, (OIL) unavoidably generates enormous quantity of tank bottom oily sludge as well as oil/oily effluent soaked soil waste during drilling operations which constitutes a major challenge for hazardous waste management as well as environment management. Another problem lies while drilling operation.

Transfer of Bollcure: a new botanical bio-pesticide for cotton bollworm technology, developed at TERI and transferred to Sri Biotech Laboratories Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad

TERI with the support of the Department of Biotechnology has developed a bio-pesticide from the extracts of eucalyptus leaves. The technology has been tested in the field and is the outcome of 10 years of hard work of the dedicated team working at TERI. The first technology transfer took place on 2 November 2007 in the presence of Dr M K Bhan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology.

Research for energy conservation in India: Phase 1

The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan or IEEJ and TERI have entered into an agreement to cooperate on the energy efficiency improvements in India by undertaking joint research projects. Some of the areas identified under the study include the industry sector and the thermal power plants.

GOF climate change and energy programme - design of renewable energy credit system for India

Improvement of Malbhog, a Commercially Important Indigenous Banana of Assam, through Mutation Induction

Malbhog is a medium tall, most preferred indigenous table banana variety (AAB genomic group) of Assam that bears fruit in 18 months, yields about 8-9 kg per bunch and is prone to disease infestation and pest attack. Banana bunchy top virus has threatened banana propagation, field production and germplasm conservation.

Removal of financial and institutional barriers in mainstreaming the biomass gasifier systems for thermal applications in India
