ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The seed funding from the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) enabled the institutes in India and China to
launch the project, constitute steering committees, and facilitate
interaction between the research institutes. Support from Shakti
Sustainable Energy Foundation helped in further strengthening the
initial research through stakeholder consultation for informing policies
for incubation for India component. Support for outreach, in March
2014, from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing is also appreciated.
We thank Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of
State, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change,
Government of India, for providing encouragement.
We thank Dr Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, Former Chairman,
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Former Chairman
& Director General, The Energy and Resources Institute for his
visionary leadership, without which the project would not have been

National Security Advisor, Government of India, for supporting the
concept of the collaborative project. We are deeply appreciative of

Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), for his support to the
initial concept, and Ms Huang Wenhang, Former Director, International
Cooperation Division, Department of Climate Change, NDRC, for the

partner institutes. We benefitted from the guidance of Ambassador

Department of the National Development and Reform Commission
