3.3. Overview on Natural and Social Environments
3.3.1 Overview on Natural Environment

Extending from 106°07′ to 107°17′ east longitude and from 26°11′ to
27°22′ north latitude, Guiyang is located to the east of the Yunnan-
Guizhou Plateau and the centre of the Guizhou Province. The highest
and the lowest elevations of Guiyang are 1,762 metres and 506 metres
respectively, and the average elevation of downtown Guiyang is 1,000
metres. It covers an area of about 113 kilometres from the east to the
west and about 130 kilometres from the south to the north. As the
capital of Guizhou Province, Guiyang is the political, economic, and
