Smart delivery system means combination of specifically targeted, highly controlled, and multifunctional characteristics to avoid biological barriers. Efficiency of chemical fertilizers can be increased through their delivery using smart carrier systems such as mesoporous silica particles. They could precisely release their active ingredients in responding to environmental triggers and biological demands. Here in TERI, we are focussing on developing multifunctional mesoporous silica nanoparticles as SMART nano carriers for delivering nano-nutrients, microbes, bio actives for different mode of application such as seed coating, foliar spray etc.
