Programme Overview

Today, the dramatic change in the climate is a major concern and challenge for the 21st century, which demands an alternative supply of cleaner energy from renewable sources.
Renewable energy technologies are evolving continuously both globally and in India, changing their relative competitiveness with conventional options rapidly and bringing in new dynamics into the arena of policy making, financing, infrastructure provisioning as well as development of requisite skill sets.
TERI is a leading think-tank in the country of world class repute in the energy sector. Its engagement with the energy, transport, urban infrastructure sectors over the years have produced strategic partnerships with prominent players.
The course is designed to address technical, policy and implementation aspects to enhance overall understanding of participants on clean energy. The modules cover topics such as RE technologies, energy efficiency measures, RE project evaluation and relevant policies/regulations.
The programme design is flexible utilizing an online learning platform and enables students from across the globe to complete course work whilst balancing work/life commitments.

Programme Objectives

The objective of this Programme is to develop professionally qualified and trained professionals and
provide the following competencies

To apply basic business, economic, and technical management principles in a variety of technical and non-technical contexts.
To develop competencies to meet the challenges of implementing and managing Energy/Power projects in India.
To understand the changing contours of the clean energy sector both in India and globally.
To build awareness, understanding and implementation of enactments related to the renewable energy sector in India.
To develop the business case and optimise decision making for renewable energy projects.
To build expertise in project evaluation, financing and implementation of clean energy projects.

Learning Methodology

Participants are provided access to Learning Management System (LMS) that includes resources from e-books, assignments, audio-video links and web-links.
The LMS is accessible via smart phones and tabs, and PC’s
Faculty Led Live interactions -

Our expert faculty members deliver online sessions on key concepts utilizing case studies and real world examples.
Q&A/Discussions are conducted as a part of the online sessions.
In the event participants cannot attend live sessions, recorded versions are available via the LMS platform for study at a convenient time.

Highlights of the programme

This Professional Development Programme is among the niche courses being offered under Distance Learning Programme providing an opportunity to obtain a certificate in the area of Renewable Energy. The Programme covers renewable energy policies, regulations, technologies, business models and viability assessment techniques.

Pedagogical Approach

The pedagogy involves use of MOOCs based Learning Management System (LMS) for dissemination of study material, regular interaction with sectoral experts, peer-to-peer learning platforms and open discussion forums.
Learning material, as developed/ curated by sector experts, is made available to the students online. Modules are rolled out sequentially upon completion of the prior module(s).
Lectures/ face-to-face interactions with experts are conducted on a regular basis, wherein participants interact through online (webinar) mode.
The Programme has been designed to facilitate flexible, self-paced and value-oriented learning environment.

Evaluation Criteria

The evaluation is based on the performance of the participants in the assignments.
Participants will be asked to attempt assignments, after studying the learning material using the Digital Learning portal.
The assessments will be usually conducted in the months of June and December each year.
