Knowledge Products & Services
TERI Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) is the primary repository and gateway to support learning, research and intellectual stimulation. It offers a wide range of information resources and products that are customized to meet and fulfill the specialized information need and demand of the users. The services offered by KRC are primarily grouped into four distinct categories.
Content Development
KRC is involved in planning, processing and organizing contents for newsletters, journals, compendiums, and websites. This encompasses a variety of content types such as updates, reviews, digests, case studies, and analytical studies covering diverse topics, ranging from climate change and renewable energy to mycorrhiza and plant biotechnology. KRC has been involved in developing contents for TERI Information Digest on Energy and Environment, eNREE Newsletter, TERI ENVIS website, and several other information products.
Database Development
KRC develop and manage databases of knowledge resources through well-designed state-of-the-art relational database management system (RDBMS) based on Structured Query Language. The interoperable databases are developed in structured manner to facilitate easy and efficient retrieval of data by users. The centre has designed and developed databases comprising bibliographic as well as full-text information focussing on various subject domains related to energy, environment, and sustainable development.
Digitization and Digital Library Development
KRC has developed a digital repository of the institute’s vast knowledge resources comprising various formats of structured documents in the form of project reports, audio visuals and multimedia collections, MoUs, photos, statistical data sheets, and other forms. These contents have been created through digitization of existing documents and through creating new documents in digital formats. The web-accessible frameworks have been designed and developed with query-based retrieval methodology based on the meta data fields. Web-based digital repositories have been developed for various external bodies, for instance, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Library Automation
The Centre provides services to undertake automation of library management functions for organizing and retrieving library resources for the user community. KRC houses an integrated library system that facilitates automated acquisition, circulation, cataloguing, serial control, and Online Public Access Catalogue. The library management system integrates the library resources of the KRC Main Library located at TERI, New Delhi, with those of TERI Southern Regional Centre located in Bengaluru and the TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi. The KRC also provides remote access of its online resources to users.
