Capacity building for effective waste management

 

TERI -GIZ team along with Varanasi Municipal Corporation conducts capacity building and awareness workshop for informal waste collectors in Varanasi under Waste NAMA programme supported by Tetra Pak India Pvt Limited. Being 8th workshop in series, the aim is to build capacities of informal sector workers on types of recyclables, personal protective equipment, associated hazards and health risks. Through the workshops the project is trying to build capacities and increase linkages with informal networks to divert low value recyclables in city. The programme aims to reduce GHG emissions from the solid waste sector and enhance capacities of stakeholders in waste management domain in Goa and Varanasi.
