Mr Jiwesh Nandan, former IAS, is engaged with the Industrial Energy Efficiency Division of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) as its Distinguished Fellow.

Mr Nandan has diverse experience of over 34 years in handling various assignments related to Power Sector, Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Development Management and Public Administration in the State and Central Government and retired as a Special Secretary, the Ministry of Defence in 2021.

Prior to his retirement, he was associated as Principal Secretary, New & Renewable Energy in Government of UP from 2011 to 2015 where Solar Energy Policy of UP State was prepared and tariff-based bidding documents for setting up large Solar Power Projects were prepared. He established the first Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) as founding CEO which was started as an innovative joint venture of four public sector companies of Power Ministry namely NTPC, Power Grid, REC and PFC.

He also worked in GIZ under the Indo German Energy Programme. In a multicultural environment, he developed skill sets to carry forward developmental activities in the field of decarbonization, climate change and energy efficiency. During this period, schemes for Demand side Decarbonization & supply side reduction in carbon emissions like Standard and Labelling of appliances, Industrial energy efficiency PAT, Energy Conservation Building Code, efficiency in municipal functions like drinking water supply, sewage pumping and street lights, agricultural pump sets and efficiency in selected SME clusters were launched.

As a National Coordinator with the IGEP, he provided technical and professional support and advice to the BEE.
