Background
The purpose of this program is to increase the access to the clean and affordable energy in the Asian countries. The program includes quality assurance, market information and research, business support, access to finance and consumer awareness. TERI's Solar Lighting Laboratory is the first Laboratory in Asia affiliated under Lighting Global Programme for the Quality Assurance of the Solar Lighting Systems in order to remove the market barriers to adopt quality assurance products.
Introduction
The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy accredited Solar lighting laboratory has facility to provide testing and certification for the solar modules, luminaires, batteries and charge controller as per the international and national standards. The project is about the providing testing services and certifies the solar based products of the manufacturer.
Activities
Electrical and photometry testing as per the IEC standard, analyzing the results and provide certification to the manufacturers.
Achievements
The laboratory has successfully certified more than 20 systems including solar lanterns, solar home lighting systems and solar task light under this program for the different manufacturers such as D.light, AVNI, ORB Energy, Schneider Electric and many more.

Objective
The foremost objective of this project is to check the quality of the solar lighting systems as per the IEC standards by conducting essential experiments on the systems and provide certification to the manufacturers.
