About Kumaon Vani

Kumaon Vani is a community radio station launched by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in March 2010 in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

It was created to connect rural communities of the Kumaon region and promote inclusive, sustainable development through the power of local voices.

Broadcasting daily on 90.4 MHz, Kumaon Vani covers topics such as agriculture, health, environment, and education, empowering listeners with relevant and practical information.

Kumaon Vani reaches nearly 500 villages across Nainital, Bhimtal, Almora, Ranikhet, Champawat, Kausani, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar, serving a population of around 6 lakh.

Our Team

The station is powered by young people from local communities, trained in all aspects of radio production — from field reporting to broadcasting. Their voices reflect the real stories, aspirations, and challenges of Kumaon.

Kumaon Vani is officially empanelled with the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) / Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.
